China's Automobile Production and Sales in June 2023

In June 2023, car production and sales were completed 2.561 million and 2.622 million, respectively, up 9.8 per cent and 10.1 per cent, respectively, and 2.5 per cent and 4.8 per cent, respectively, from January to June 2023, car production and sales were completed 13.248 million and 13.239 million, respectively, up 9.3 per cent and 9.8 per cent, respectively.
In June 2023, the production and sales of passenger cars were completed 2.219 million and 2.268 million respectively, up 10.4 per cent and 10.6 per cent respectively from the previous month, with production down 0.9 per cent and sales up 2.1 per cent from the same period last year; from January to June 2023, the production and sales of passenger cars were completed 11.281 million and 11.268 million respectively, up 8.1 per cent and 8.8 per cent respectively from the same period last year.
In June 2023, commercial vehicle production and sales completed 342000 and 355000 vehicles, respectively, an increase of 6.3 percent and 7.3 percent, respectively; year-on-year growth of 31.3 percent and 26.3 percent, respectively; from January to June 2023, commercial vehicle production and sales completed 1.967 million and 1.971 million, respectively, an increase of 16.9 percent and 15.8 percent, respectively.
In June 2023, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were completed 784000 and 806000, respectively, up 32.8 per cent and 35.2 per cent year-on-year; from January to June 2023, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were completed 3.788 million and 3.747 million, respectively, up 42.4 per cent and 44.1 per cent year-on-year.
Data show that from January to June, the top ten enterprises (groups) in car sales sold a total of 11.043 million vehicles, accounting for 83.4 per cent of total car sales. Among the top 10 companies in terms of auto sales, compared with the same period last year,BYD(002594) Sales growth was the most significant, with Chery Holdings, BAIC Group and Geely Holdings also showing double-digit growth, with China FAW,Changan Automobile(000625) andGAC GROUP(601238) a small increase,Great Wall Motor(601633) increased slightly, while other enterprises decreased to varying degrees.
